Random Visit

Posted on Mon Oct 21st, 2013 @ 4:07am by Lieutenant Cor Cordale & Lieutenant JG Ashley Ryder

Mission: Rules of Acquisition
Location: Cor's Quarters
Timeline: [BACKPOST]

Ash tapped Cor's chime and waited, munching on a bit of hot popcorn as she waited.

She was completely unannounced. This was the first time she was dropping by like this, so she wasn't sure how he'd take it.
Ash was off today and had decided that if his schedule permitted, she'd like to spend some time with Cordale.

She had dressed in a tank top and shorts and had pulled her hair back in a long pony tail. Nothing fancy, very casual and very comfortable dress.

It had been a few days since she had seen him and Meep had found that she was missing her new blue partner in crime.

Cor heard the announcer, and stuck his head out of the shower stall. "Hold on, be right there." It'd be a few minutes, but the door would slide open, and Cor would be in a one-sleeve shirt and pants, and the door opened as he was still re-attaching his mechanical prosthetic. "Hey, haven't seen you around in... a few days really. Well, official business here and there, sure. Unofficial, haven't seen you around in a few. Been busy?" and with a click, the prosthetic whirred to life.

Meep nodded. "I had to concentrate on training some new recruits. Popcorn?" She tilted the bag towards Cor. "I'm free today and was hoping to catch you for a bit. I found that I was missing you. You busy?" She sniffed, leaned in and sniffed closer.
"Mmm. You smell good."

"Fresh from the shower, fresh monolubricant on the arm." he chalked it up, then reached for a piece of popcorn, then stopped... and reached for it with his prosthetic to check the connection. He snagged a popped kernel in his mechanical grip. "Well, come on in, make yourself at home." he motioned for her to enter.

Meep did just that. "Oh hey, this place is cool." She looked over at the shelves of painted miniatures.
"I wasn't sure if it would be ok to just drop by. You'd tell me if I was interrupting.. or if you just didn't want company, right?"

"Thanks, I figure if I'm staying someplace long enough, might as well make it worth staying in." he said with a smirk. "And yeah, if you were intruding, or if I was in a funk, I'd tell you."

Ash nodded. "Yeah, I thought you'd tell me to Feck off if I was bothering you. These are really good." She turned back to Cor.
"So how's you?" Meep crossed back over and hugged him.

Cor paused for a moment, then returned the hug. "I'm alright, ultimately. Still up to my armpit in work orders and well, a lot of them really can't be delegated or anything. So it's a lot in my hands." he shook his head, "But I've got this. So that's the life of Cordale. How's you?"

"Eh, same shit, different day." The pilot shrugged. "Been very busy though. This is the first time I've been able to relax. It's weird, but you're the only one I feel like I can actually really be myself around. I feel like the others just see me as a smashing set of tits who happens to be able to kick ass at cards and can fly a stick."

Cor gave a chuckle, "Well then, sit those tits down and relax." he motioned to a chair. "I was going to pop in a movie, hope you like ninja." he warned.

Meep laughed. "I do, actually!" She plopped down in the chair Cor had pointed to.

Cor rummaged through his collecto-dex, and queued up a movie or three. All three of them together probably cost about a hundred dollars to put together. He handed Ashley a mug of root beer from his cooler. "Here you go. So kick back, relax, and no worries."

"Well, have some more popcorn. Popped it myself." Meep held out the bag.
"What movies did you queue up?"

"Don't mind if I do, thanks." he took a handful of the popcorn and munched a bit. "Nothing major, each of them probably cost about ten bucks to make, really." Cor gave a quick synopsis. Ninjas and clan wars. "Though, one of the queue'd up movies I think you'll dig. Ninja Assassin. Stars this guy, Rain, who apparently is considered pretty hot by the female persuasion." he chuckled.

Meep leaned forward and scratched Cor's cheek.
"Aww, don't worry. I'm only seeing blue lately for some reason, Handsome." She winked at Cor and leaned back into her seat laughing softly.
"Humans are much too bald and pink for me now."

"Hmmm... I bet." he said with a smirk. Maybe she was just being overly nice. Maybe she was trying to step on his boundaries. Hard to say.

He snagged a mug of his stash of root beer for himself, and took a seat. The movies were about to begin.

Meep settled in the chair and held the popcorn where it was easily accessible by both of them.
She found herself searching the leading men for any familiar faces. Meep was actually a bit disappointed to find she could spot none.
"Is Bruce Lee in this one?" She whispered to Cor after a while, during a brief lull.

"Nope. Lots of folks did martial arts back then." he reminded with a smirk. He snagged another piece of popcorn, "Though, next time around I'll throw something of his on."

"It's OK, this is really good too." Ash said, not taking her eyes off the screen.
"I just couldn't remember. To be honest, I haven't seen this one before. OWWW!" She cried out in approval as the hero delivered a particularly painful-looking blow to an ill-fated bad guy.

"After the movies, how about you let me cook you some dinner? And when I say cook I mean replicate." Meep grinned."You're good company."

"Yeah.... that's gonna leave a mark. Owww..." Cor cringed as well. Best part of those shots was the death rattle, really. "You don't need to, really. I was just going to curl up with a steak and some assorted Thux Chow... meaning beef stew or maybe nachos or something. Which'd mean I'd have to hit the gym tomorrow." he mused. "You're welcome to stay if you want." he offered.

Her remark about being good company... he didn't react.

"Nah, it's ok, and I insist! You're like the only friend I've made on here. Well, there's a few others who are nice to me, but it's not the same thing." Meep tossed a few more pieces of popcorn into her mouth.
"I can let down my hair around you. You get me. You get what it's like to be pissed and not give a fuck about who knows it. You totally get what it's like to be continually screwed over by life." Ash looked Cor up and down. "Though I gotta say, life fucked you over harder than anyone else I've ever known. You're totally due for some good Kharma. Let's start with my cooking."
There was another intense ass-kicking scene where the hero single-handedly took on a huge mob victoriously.
"But..after the movies."

Cor listened to what Ashley had to say, and after her speech he gave a smile and a nod, "You got a point, Meep." he called her by her nickname. She was right on so many points, and yeah, she earned that nod.

"Yes. After the movies." he agreed.

The flicks were good. Very good in fact. Before the second one was halfway over, however, Meep found herself yawning.
By the time the credits began to roll her eyes were drooping and she knew it was time for a pick-me-up.

Ashley sat up and stretched. "Agggggghhhhhhh!!!! Excellent choice!" She stood up and continued to stretch.
She pulled a small container out of her pocket, shook two white pills out of it, popped the cap back on and slipped it back in her pocket.
Ash tossed them back in her mouth, took a swallow of her drink and wiped her mouth.

"Well, much as I'd like to make this something of an all-nighter, I have my work cut out for me tomorrow, so I'm gonna have to call this an early night." he stood up, his knees popping as he did so. "Ooooo... yeah, that was nice." He offered Meep a hand up. "When I get back, we'll pick this up where we left off." he suggested.

Meep grinned and leaned in gently brushing Cor's soft cheek.
"I'd like that. Thanks." Her hand dropped and she placed a kiss where her fingers just were.
"Till then, Handsome."
